Edward tells Markham that he is going to the International Congress at Stuttgart. He would like to see him and speak to him about several issues. There is a note at the botton of the letter from Markham. He recieved the letter latre, he is Landing, N.J.. He would like Edward to meet him at Hopatkong Station if he can at any time.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
